Personas & Diagrams

The concept idea is called “Search Intelligence” which is a customisable web-based search engine into Alexander McQueen. This is to enable both knowledgeable user and beginner user to search Alexander McQueen’s collections/artefacts.

To demonstrate this concept I have created the following:

  • Personas
  • Storyboards
  • Experience Model
  • Data Flow Diagram Level 0
  • Data Flow Diagram Level 1
  • Use Case Diagrams
  • Use Case Descriptions

Personas: I have created two detailed personas, one is knowledgeable user to enable the panels to understand and have an idea the kind of target audiences I wanted to target at, and the other one is a beginner user to show that the kind of beginner user I am aiming for. In this case, it is a director of a fashion company and an undergraduate student who are accessing Alexander McQueen’s Collections.

Storyboards: I have created two storyboards to illustrate how each individuals are accessing the collections in different ways to suit their preference in order for them to search and find the artefact that them looking for. For knowledgeable user, they may know the specific keywords or specialist terms so that they can use the text filed function which lead them to the artefact that they looking for. For beginner user, they may not know the artefact’s name as they may only saw the artefact once. Therefore, they could use the collections function to browse around the entire collections as an informal learning to help them to build their knowledge based as well as an opportunity to leaning other related Alexander McQueen’s artefact.

Experience Mode: This model is to demonstrate how users are interact with the system with two different options upon user’s selection that will enable user to go through either the text based search or the collection based browsing path.

Data Flow Diagram Level 0: This is to illustrate an overview of the Victoria and Alberts Collections Management System to demonstrate how each individuals are accessing the system in diagram format.

Data Flow Diagram Level 1: This is an in-depth view into the Victoria and Albers Collections Management System to demonstrate how it take input commands and the system will retrieve the data from a managed collection access database. The data has been organised into twelfth sub-database for easy access and management. For example, when a knowledgeable user enters a keywords or a specialist terms into the system, it can quickly retrieve the relevant data and display the artefact on the monitor. So when a beginner user search by collections, the system will display the entire Alexander McQueen’s collections for user to browse through each artefact which includes descriptions of that particular artefact.

Use Case Diagrams: Those diagrams are usually referred to as behaviour diagrams are used to describe a set of user actions and system response in great details. Since this system is very simple to use which means it won’t require many steps to find the specific artefact as showed below.

Use Case Descriptions: Those diagrams are similar to use case diagrams but instead it is a text based to describe how user interact with the system. In addition, it also include exceptional flows to show how the system is respond to incorrect user inputs and system errors such as high internet traffic.
