Major Project: Model Development – Core Building

Spent the past few days focusing on making the artefact by using array transformation when I can specify the level of the floors as well as height and width. This methodology also enabled me to modify each level or if is an instant then it will allow the same changes across all floors which I can it is a very good way of developing this kind of artefact.

Also, the transforming objects enable me to change the position, size or number of the object without altering the integrity of the geometry itself. The Autodesk knowledge network has helped me to solve the problem I encountered at this stage which is a very useful website for troubleshooting.

Another area I am currently working on is the exterior of the building, although I have looked at the “Petronas Twin Towers” for reference such as the following information:

Height:

  • Architectural 451.9m (1,483 ft.)
  • Tip 451.9m (1,483 ft.)
  • Roof 378.6m (1,242 ft.)
  • Top Floor 375m (1,230 ft.)

Technical Info:

  • Floor Count 88 (+5 Below Ground)
  • Lifts/Elevators 40 (Each Tower)
  • Floor Area 395,000m2 (4,252,000 sq. ft.)
  • Skybridge to connect the two towers.

Additionally, I will be working on the door and windows separately then embed it onto the exterior of the building. However, I am still thinking about the style so I reviewing the visual research library for reference. So far, the model is getting to look like a real building as the top half of the building is a residential area, and the bottom half of the building is a mixture of offices and shops. Besides, I will research into some modelling tutorials to have the guidance of how to develop a more realistic skyscraper as well as to learn how to apply tips and tricks to enhance the development process smoother.
